Nominations Abound!

Confession: admittedly, and slightly sadly, and to some extent, I measure my life in awards shows.  Mostly by the Oscars and the 'Best Picture' from whichever particular year, but the Emmys get me excited for the awards and for the Oscar Nominations on the far horizon.  This morning, the Emmy nominations were announced.  Needless to say, I am ecstatic!  While I don't watch that much television and most of it does come in boxed sets, there are a few series that prompted my relationship with tivo a few years back and they were duly recognized by the Emmys.
I love the slightly-older (in tv terms) series 30 Rock (NBC).  I always will be.  Fantastic writing, fantastic story-line, real humor, and Alec Baldwin!  I used to be in love with the Office (NBC), but in my opinion, it strayed too far from its humble roots and doesn't feel as genuine as it used to.  This past season, I fell in a mad-type love with Modern Family (ABC) and Glee (FOX).  I have never laughed out loud as much as I do when I watch Modern Family.  It's a perfect comedy and perfectly cast.  Glee makes me smile and sing and dance around with happy.  Bottom Line: all three of my faves have considerable smart humor and wit and they should win everything.  Glee received an amazing 19 nominations this morning, Modern Family received 14, and '30 Rock' received 15.
Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt on Glee was nominated for best supporting actor and my heart could not be more happy!  Totes love him on the show and think he's hilarious and perfect.
Here are the Nominations for the Comedy "Big" Awards:

Noticeably, I left off any mention of the dramas.  Honestly, I don't think there are any good dramas on right now... at least not that I have seen.  In order to remedy, I am currently watching Mad Men series like it's my job and caught up on Grey's Anatomy.  Still, Comedies just make me happier...

Be Still my Burger-Crazed Heart.

Yes. This is a candle.
Yes. It does smell like Hamburgers.
Yes. I am in love.
Since finals have ended, I have had been in a burger craze/frenzy.  Admittedly, not for fast-food burgers, and especially not for White Castle burgers, but burgers, nonetheless.  I feel like White Castle has heard my roaring cravings and has presented with this gem of a candle.  Le sigh, I want one.
Best Part about these ingenious candles?  The net proceeds go to charity- Autism Speaks.  Awesome.

A Little Something UN-LUXE

I cringe.  I die.  I throw up a little in my mouth.  "Designer Colors:" what does that even mean?  I hope no one buys this.

If Only

Dear Tina Fey,
I love you.  Thanks for understanding and playing to single gals everywhere. I wish I had a brownie husband.

Study Humor.

Alert: This post is going to be full of nerd-humor... but more than just your average nerd humor.  I'm saying the humor of this post is absolutely relative to (a) the subject matter (Sales); and (b) to how absolutely fried my brain is from a month of studying.  So, be warned... you may not find this funny AT ALL.

That said, these are the following hilarious things that Emanuel Law flash cards are teaching me about Sales (UCC Article 2)... yes, that parenthetical is contained on the outside of the box... for those of you not familiar with  "law lingo" that's akin to putting a sticker on a banana that reads, "fruit."  I knew these flash cards were going to be entertaining upon opening the box.

1. Mnemonic for Acceptance between Merchants: MALE LOOn (Material Alterations; Expressly Limited; Offeror Objects).

2. "The Frankenstein Candy Company writes to the Herman Munster Sweet Shop, stating: "Will have 1,000 gummy mummies..."

3. Sam Shyster is a sales manager at the Krullen Heartless Appliance Store...

4. Madame du Pompadour Bathroom Fixtures Company enters into a contract with the House of Whoopee Wholesale House...

5. Park & Tiquetts are makers of a populer game, Oligopoly

6. Mnemonic for four principle types of warranties under the UCC? MET FloPPy (Merchantability; Express; Title; Fitness for a Particular Purpose.)

I'm going bananas...

Maggie.

My sister, Maggie, is pretty much the coolest person I know.
She may be 5 years younger than me, but we absolutely communicate with similar heart, wisdom, and independence.  She's creative, loving, and just down-right awesome.  I'd love to go through the millions of things that make maggie "totes awes," but unfortunately articles 2 and 2A of the Uniform Commercial Code are calling my name.
I leave you all with a video my sister and I find absolutely hilarious...

Good Luck finishing up your last week of your sophomore year of college!  I can't wait to see you soon (well, not that soon... but you know...)

Cleveland- I'm gonna miss you, Pt. I

Joakim Noah's Earlier Cleveland Bashing:

“I don’t know about Cleveland, man, there is nothing going on. It’s bad, man.”
After that quote, Noah was asked whether his dislike for the city could be used as motivation in the series: “What, that Cleveland really sucks?”
