Nominations Abound!

Confession: admittedly, and slightly sadly, and to some extent, I measure my life in awards shows.  Mostly by the Oscars and the 'Best Picture' from whichever particular year, but the Emmys get me excited for the awards and for the Oscar Nominations on the far horizon.  This morning, the Emmy nominations were announced.  Needless to say, I am ecstatic!  While I don't watch that much television and most of it does come in boxed sets, there are a few series that prompted my relationship with tivo a few years back and they were duly recognized by the Emmys.
I love the slightly-older (in tv terms) series 30 Rock (NBC).  I always will be.  Fantastic writing, fantastic story-line, real humor, and Alec Baldwin!  I used to be in love with the Office (NBC), but in my opinion, it strayed too far from its humble roots and doesn't feel as genuine as it used to.  This past season, I fell in a mad-type love with Modern Family (ABC) and Glee (FOX).  I have never laughed out loud as much as I do when I watch Modern Family.  It's a perfect comedy and perfectly cast.  Glee makes me smile and sing and dance around with happy.  Bottom Line: all three of my faves have considerable smart humor and wit and they should win everything.  Glee received an amazing 19 nominations this morning, Modern Family received 14, and '30 Rock' received 15.
Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt on Glee was nominated for best supporting actor and my heart could not be more happy!  Totes love him on the show and think he's hilarious and perfect.

Noticeably, I left off any mention of the dramas.  Honestly, I don't think there are any good dramas on right now... at least not that I have seen.  In order to remedy, I am currently watching Mad Men series like it's my job and caught up on Grey's Anatomy.  Still, Comedies just make me happier...

Tardy Glee Post

Study Break.  I cannot express how much I loved the Glee finale!  I'm super sad that they didn't win, but super happy about the buildup (or should I say Journey) to Regionals Next year!  I loved the Journey Medley and think that the version of 'Don't Stop Believing' was infinitely better on the finale than on the first show (mostly because someone other than Fin and Rachel were highlighted).  I cannot wait for more Puck, Santana, Rachel, Fin, Artie, Quinn, Mr. Schuester, Mercedes, and mostly Kurt and Sue Sylvester next Season!
Enjoy the Season Finale show-stopper Medley below (which was way far better than Vocal Adrenaline's!)

Glee Has Heart.

Wow.  I just finished watching this week's episode of Glee on Hulu.  It is entitled 'Laryngitis' and all about finding your voice.
Watch it here:

This is one of the best episodes I have EVER seen of this show.  Usually, I enjoy Glee for its over-the-top musical numbers, adorable high school social mini-dramas, the voices, and lately, for the media and political jabs.  The first half of this episode absolutely lived up to my usual love of Glee.  The second half, however, reminded me that Glee has heart... and a Big one at that.
First, I'm SO SO happy that some of the "minor" characters are getting the chance to shine.  Puck and Mercedes duet was phenomenal and also an exciting and refreshing break from the pop numbers Glee has been cashing in on lately.  Kurt's solo was amazing (not to mention the Alexander McQueen scarf he was so ferociously rocking).  And Kurt's relationship with his father is so sweet and what I can only imagine is pretty true to life.  Rachel's duet with Fin's hurt friend towards the end, and the entire cast's rendition, of U2's One was epic.  I may have shed a little tear... Just like Rachel.
Best part of the entire episode?  Kurt's solo and the talk with his dad afterwards.
Best line of the entire episode?  Kurt's father telling him, "your job is to be yourself."
Perfect words to live by.  Almost perfect episode.
